French Wire Gold Plated

Description

French Wire Gold Plated is an extremely useful component as it protects the thread from fraying around the clasp. It is made from a very fine coil of wire and gives jewellery a professional finish.

Which makes it easy to bend and manipulate to accommodate a clasp. To use the French wire simply cut the amount of French wire required and thread it onto your thread. The wire will create a nice curved shape. You can either thread your clasp onto of the wire, or use a jump ring to attach the clasp afterward. When using French wire check that your thread will fit through your wire, if it is too think you could accidentally unravel the wire. The internal diameter of this French wire is 0.7mm. This means the thickest thread you can easily use is 0.6mm.

The French Wire Gold Plated (also known to as Bullion or gimp) is popular for knotted pearl necklaces. It is often used when fixing or replicating antique pearl or glass necklaces.
